Open Skies Music proudly presents these live sessions
These videos were recorded as pre-cursors of where we are today as Open Skies Music. It's also important to note that due to the pandemic of COVID-19 we are currently not doing live sessions with an audience. These were filmed prior to the pandemic and we want to preserve the live atmosphere of shows as much as possible. These live sessions serve as a reminder of how important it will be to support venues and artists once the pandemic dies down.
Open Skies Music is proud to present: Artie Balkwill Live
He is a roots and blues artist who bridges traditional and indie influences. Born and raised in Ogema, Saskatchewan, a farming community of only 250 people, and later relocating to his current home city, Regina, he was 21 before he ever picked up a guitar. He laughs, reminiscing on his youth and his default reply whenever he was asked what kind of music he liked. “Anything but the blues.” And yet, he now finds himself drawing from the Chicago blues greats like Mississippi John Hurt and Howlin Wolf along with soul singers like Charles Bradley and Etta James. His modern take also gathers influence from songwriters and storytellers such as Josh Ritter, Damien Rice, and Gord Downie. His performance at The Artesian on 13th in Regina, Saskatchewan is sure to reminisce and impress his influential story tellers as his ability to captivate his audience is part of his prairie charm you certainly will enjoy.
